ST. LOUIS – A St. Louis reporter was attacked while reporting on a story in Alorton, Illinois for KMOV, WFAA's sister station.
Matt Sczesny was at the Alorton Police Department when he was approached and attacked by a male. The man punched Sczesny several times.
The reporter and his attacker struggled for about 10 seconds before the man fled the scene. KMOV reported that it appeared the attacker left when he heard Sczesny's photographer coming to help. The suspect did not ask for or take anything during the attack.
KMOV reported that Sczesny is okay and in good spirits.
"I'm feeling ok," he tweeted Tuesday morning. "Certainly caught me by surprise. I appreciate everyone's concern."
Police are still looking for the suspect.
