KAUFMAN COUNTY - A dog was found dead with its mouth taped shut in Kaufman County Friday afternoon, less than a month after another dog that also had its mouth taped shut was rescued in Parker County.

The Kaufman County Sheriff's Department is in the early stages of their investigation and can't yet say if the cases are related. Kaufman County is southeast of Dallas, while Parker County is west of Fort Worth.

The SPCA has offered a $5,000 reward for information in the Kaufman County case. They encourage anyone with information that could lead to the arrest or conviction or perpetrators to call the Kaufman County Sheriff's Department at 972-932-4337.

On July 9, a dog was found in Parker County with its mouth taped shut and deep cuts to its body. The dog, renamed Hope, was rescued and treated, and was adopted by Charlie and Kit Moncrief a week later.
