ARLINGTON – Arlington police hope a $2,500 reward will spur someone to come forward and identify the person who beat a pharmacist with a tire iron during a robbery last month.

On Oct. 20 at 9 a.m., department spokeswoman Tiara Richard said the suspect entered the pharmacy in the 800 block of W. Road to Six Flags donning a black mask. The man demanded drugs from the pharmacist, who was able to grab a gun and fire at least one shot.

Richard said the suspect may have been shot, but still used a tire iron to beat the pharmacist. The mask prevented identification, however Richard said the man was black and stood six feet tall and weighed between 200 and 215 pounds. He fled the scene in a champagne or gold-colored Ford Taurus.

The pharmacist was treated shortly after the attack.

“His injuries, they were brutal injuries, but they were not life-threatening,” Richard said.

The department has searched area hospitals to see if the suspect received care, but it’s still not clear whether he was shot. If he was, Richard said the caliber was such that treatment may not have been necessary.

The $2,500 reward was offered by Purdue Pharma, which donates money to individuals who come forward regarding crimes at pharmacies.

Anyone with information about the crime or the person responsible should call Det. Seth Archer at 817.459.5336 or Crime Stoppers at 817.469.8477.
