DPD seek help in search for suspect in shooting death at horse barn

DALLAS - Dallas police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the suspect in a murder case that occurred on August 4 in southwest Dallas.

According to a statement released by Dallas police, 42-year-old Carlos Barriento Hernandez became involved in a verbal argument with Ulbaldo Alvarez at a horse barn at about 12:26 a.m. in the 300 block of S. Merrifield Rd.

A witness told Dallas police he tried to diffuse the argument between Alvarez and Hernandez, but began packing items into his car as the men continued to fight. While at the vehicle, the witness said he heard Hernandez yell something undiscernable and then heard a gunshot.

According to the witness, he heard two more gunshots and began to flee on foot after he saw Alvarez running towards him and shout "run."

The witness went to the home of Alvarez and told his family members he might be hurt. The family found him dead from gunshot wounds at the barn.

Hernandez is described as 6’ 2” and weighs between 190 to 200 pounds.

Police are asking anyone with information about Hernandez or the murder to contact Detective Montenegro with the DPD homicide unit at 214-671-3624.
