DALLAS -- The family of 39-year-old corporate attorney Damien Falgoust is holding vigil by his bedside at Baylor Hospital.
“Right now, it’s just wait and see," Falgoust's father, Roland, said.
Falgoust is being kept in a medically-induced coma. His skull is fractured, his nose and right cheekbone are crushed, he has bleeding on the brain, and some apparent brain damage, according to his sister, Ashley.
At this point, Falgoust’s future is uncertain. Equally a mystery is his recent past.
No one knows who attacked him, or why, as he walked home following a late night out drinking with friends in Lower Greenville last Thursday. He was found at about 2:30 a.m. Friday, barely clinging to life in the 1900 block of Greenville Avenue.
“He had his wallet, with cash and credit cards and house key, so we don’t think it was a robbery," Roland Falgoust said. "He didn’t have any defensive wounds on his hands or arms, so we are baffled as to what could’ve happened.”
As Dallas police search for answers in this case, the department also continues stepped-up patrols in the popular entertainment district that has been beset in recent years a spate of violent crimes. Falgoust’s father laments that his son had moved to the area because of its rich nightlife, but ended up nearly losing his life just a few blocks from home.
“As of now, I am in an angry period," Roland Falgoust said. "I would like to find out who did this. Not knowing is hard. To have this happen to your kid is horrible.”
Anyone who has information in this case is asked to call Detective Singer of the Dallas Police Department at 214-671-3854 or 214-671-3603.
