TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) — Investigators released the names of the six people who were fatally shot Saturday in an attack on Democratic Rep. Gabrielle Giffords at a political event outside a Tucson supermarket.
Giffords was shot in the head and in critical condition at University Medical Center in Tucson.
The Pima County sheriff's office identified the dead as:
- U.S. District Judge John Roll, 63
- Dorthy Murray, 76
- Dorwin Stoddard, 76
- Christina Greene, 9
- Phyllis Scheck, 79
- Gabe Zimmerman, 30, a member of Giffords' staff
Giffords, a three-term congresswoman, was among 13 people wounded in the melee.
