DALLAS — Police found one person dead and another injured at a gas station in the Knox-Henderson area after the driver was able to flee a shooting scene and call police late Tuesday night in Dallas.
Dallas officers were called to the scene at about 11 p.m. in the 3000 block of Knox Street. According to Juan Fernandez, a spokesman with the Dallas Police Department, officers arrived to find one unidentified male dead and 35-year-old Christopher Cross injured.
Cross was transported to Baylor Hospital, where he was later able to talk with officers.
Fernandez said Cross told officers he and his now deceased companion, who he only knew by an undisclosed nickname, went to a location in the 12200 block of Bellafonte to sell drugs.
"Cross and the complainan arrived at the location and were approached by at least two unknown suspects," Fernandez said. "One of the suspects produced a handgun and shot multiple times into the vehicle driven by Cross."
Both Cross and his associate were shot multiple times. Despite his injuries, Cross was able to drive away from the scene and called police at the gas station on Knox Street.
Cross underwent surgery and is expected to recover.
Authorities haven't released a description of the suspects.
