FORT WORTH - A murder mystery in Fort Worth has rattled the nerves of neighbors.
A man told police he arrived to his rental home at about 6 p.m. Thursday to find his door kicked in and an unknown woman fatally shot at his back door. Investigators said the man does not know the woman.
Eighteen hours after they received a 911 call about the discovery, Fort Worth police continue their search for clues.
Meanwhile, neighbors have expressed their shock upon hearing the news. They said seeing yellow tape and a contingent of police officers is not a common site in the Tanglewood neighborhood.
"He said someone had been shot behind this house," said Susan Estes, a neighbor. "That just doesn't happen down here."
Detectives spent the morning interviewing neighbors.
"They asked us if we heard any gunshots," said one neighbor who asked not to be identified. "We heard a loud bang in the afternoon. I thought it had something to do with an air conditioning unit that had been worked on, and it was backfiring."
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy.
Fort Worth Police have shared few details since the body was discovered.
