FORT WORTH - Investigators say there were seven dogs in the backyard that 18-month-old Chance Walker, Jr. crawled into.

Evidence showed four of them mauled the child, nearly ripping off an ear and causing injuries that required hundreds of stitches.

Child Protective Services put Chance in foster care when he was released from the hospital. Tarrant County sheriff's deputies put his parents in jail late Thursday morning.

Twenty-six-year-old Chance Walker, Sr. and 23-year-old Patricia Walker each face $100,000 bond for the felony charge of injury to a child, second degree.

According to the arrest affidavit, the Walkers went to sleep the afternoon of the attack, knowing their son could get out of his playpen and crawl through a doggy door into the yard.

It further states the Walkers knew the dogs were aggressive and had attacked another child.

CPS reported that Patricia Walker tested positive for meth the day of the attack, and that her husband refused a drug test.

The day of the dog attack, the victim's grandmother was briefly jailed for going after a neighbor who had complained about the dogs.

Lena Walker faces an assault charge.

Her son and daughter-in-law have bigger legal problems. But bigger still are the problems facing Chance Walker, Jr.
