DALLAS — Dallas police say the same people may be responsible for at least six robberies of mom-and-pop drug stores.
The men are armed and brazen, holding up the pharmacies in broad daylight. They threaten employees with violence.
The owner of one of the drug stores described his ordeal to News 8, but asked we not identify him.
"One of the guys, the one with the gun, he did say, 'I'm going to shoot this guy if you don't do what I tell you to do and give us the cash and drugs,'" the victim said. "Then he took me to the back and took the drugs."
Police say the men are looking specifically for hydrocodone and OxyContin, powerful pain medications that can be sold for a lot of money on the streets.
The men walk in with bags or pillowcases. In one recent robbery, they made off with $3,000 in drugs.
In surveillance video obtained by News 8, one of the robbers is seen stuffing cash into a bag.
Employees remained calm, even though guns were pointed at them.
"I was thinking, I just need to give them what they want," a victim said. "That's the only thing that went through my mind, because I didn't want anything to happen to anyone else or to any of our employees or anything like that."
Dallas police say these same robbers have struck at least five other times. In another case they have hit the same pharmacy three times.
It's also possible that their criminal enterprise has spread to the suburbs. There are reports of similar holdups in the DeSoto-Duncanville area south of Dallas.
The men may be driving a red mid-1990s four-door Dodge vehicle. Anyone with information should all Dallas police at 214-671-3485.
