DALLAS - Reckless stunt riders on North Texas freeways has been a problem News 8 has reported on for almost a year. Finally, there has been some action.

Dallas police arrested 35-year-old Thomas Roberts, of Dallas, for spraying graffiti on North Central Expressway while bikers shut the freeway down Memorial Day weekend.

The penalty for a conviction is up to two years in prison and up to a $10,000 fine. A YouTube video showed Roberts spray painting on the roadway last weekend. Riders also wrote online comments taunting the police.

Another video from 2010, also taken on Memorial Day Weekend, showed Roberts doing the same thing.

Though the freeway shut-down has become an annual event, Dallas police did not appear prepared the latest incident.

But now, they’re clearly taking action, saying Roberts will be the first in "a number of arrests." Roberts' bond was set at $5,000.
