MURPHY — The suspect in a Murphy standoff was arrested early Sunday morning, according to a statement on the city's official Facebook page.

Residents in the area of the standoff, located in the 200 block of Grantham Lane, were evacuated Saturday night after there were reports of shots fired. Sachse and Plano SWAT teams joined Murphy police to assist at the scene.

According to Murphy police, the incident began when a man said he was going to hurt himself Saturday while inside the house with a female and another male. After the female called police, officers went to the home, where the suspect fired a shot. The officers then called for backup.

No one was hurt. Police haven't released the identity of the suspect.

Murphy is a suburb in Collin County located east of Plano.
