IRVING - The boyfriend of a mother whose seven-month-old daughter died Wednesday was arrested in connection to the infant's death.
Authorities were alerted to the death of Giselle Gallegos, of Irving, after employees at Children's Medical Center summoned officers.
The infant became ill while Maria Gallegos was out shopping and her boyfriend, 31-year-old Ruperto Florencio, was looking after the child. Florencio called Gallegos to tell her to come home immediately because the child was sick, authorities said.
The couple took Giselle to Baylor Hospital and she was later transferred to Children's Medical Center. In a statement released by the Irving Police Department, authorities said doctors discovered the baby had internal injuries "not considered to be from an accidental cause."
Irving police arrested Florencio, who is expected to be charged with capital murder.
