Memorial, funeral set for slain Kaufman DA and wife

A hearse with the remains of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia arrived with full police honors at a Grand Prairie funeral home on Monday evening.

The bodies of Kaufman County District Attorney Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia arrived at a Grand Prairie funeral home on Monday evening with a full police escort.

Officers lined up with a solemn salute as the hearse pulled up.

The U.S. Honor Flag accompanied the remains, and will stay in North Texas until the McLellands' burial.

There will be a public memorial Thursday, April 4 at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Sunnyvale, 3018 North Belt Line Road.

The McLellands' funeral is set for Friday morning April 5  at 10 o'clock at First Baptist Church of Wortham, 300 South 3rd Street.

Burial will follow in Wortham, Mike McLelland's home town.

Cynthia will be cremated and her ashes buried in the casket with her husband.
