McKINNEY — A McKinney North High School teacher has resigned after district officials were made aware of an alleged "inappropriate relationship" with a student.
McKinney ISD said it learned of the incident involving Ryan Staton Hufford, 28, on Monday, and immediately reported it to McKinney police.
Hufford, resigned during the investigation. He was booked on the second-degree felony charge on Wednesday.
Hufford was an agriculture science teacher and advisor to the Future Farmers of America chapter at McKinney North, which has an enrollment of 1,450 students.
Parents are getting a letter with information about the arrest.
"The District will not tolerate inappropriate relationships between students and staff and responsible parties will be prosecuted to the fullest extent that the law allows," said the letter signed by Cody Cunningham, a McKinney ISD spokesman.
Hufford has been at McKinney North since 2008, according to the FFA Web site. He previously taught at Clark High School in Plano, the FFA site said.
