McKINNEY – The McKinney chiropractor accused of sexually assaulting patients has been indicted by a grand jury.

Dr. David Allen Russell is accused of sexually assaulting  five females - four are teenage girls, the fifth alleged victim is an adult.

According to the indictment, Russell is accused of improperly touching them while treating the females at his McKinney chiropractic office.

"For each one of these individuals, there is a hole in all of their stories," said Todd Shapiro, Russell's attorney.

Shapiro said his client denies the charges, but he's worried Russell will not receive a fair trial because all five cases will be heard before one jury.

"I'm going to try and severe them - try them individually," Shapiro said. "How can you expect one jury to look at the cases and say, 'if all these allegations are here, there must be fire, if there's smoke.'"

Russell's license to practice has been suspended. He has also sold his chiropractic business.

He remains out on bond, awaiting trial in the coming months.
