HOUSTON — A man died Tuesday morning after a Harris County deputy stunned him earlier with a Taser, investigators said.

The deputy pulled over 42-year-old Jose Alfredo Jimenez in the 6000 block of Connorvale at Sellers Monday afternoon for a traffic violation. Jimenez got out of the car, punched the deputy and ran off, investigators said.

Deputy J. Shriver gave chase, pulled his Taser and fired. Jimenez fell and hit his head after he was struck, investigators said.

Jimenez was taken to the hospital, where he later died.

Shriver, who was injured during the scuffle, was treated and released at a hospital.
