McKINNEY -- A Collin County jury has sentenced a man to life in prison for a 2013 murder.
Collin County District Attorney Greg Willis said Friday that Antwon Carter, 26, was convicted of killing a man who sold him marijuana. The two were friendly until Carter believed he was buying low quality drugs and overpaying for them.
Carter became angry and scheduled another drug deal for Jan. 8, 2013 at Red Rock Bar and Grill. Testimony explained that Carter shot the victim four times with a 9mm handgun. He also tried to shoot a female who was with the victim, but he was out of bullets.
Through surveillance video, tollbooth records, phone records and testimony, Carter was charged with murder. He was convicted after three hours of jury deliberations. He was then sentenced to life in prison.
DA Willis says Carter must serve prison time for 30 years before he is eligible for parole.
