THE COLONY — A man is dead and another behind bars after a deadly stabbing Monday night at a cafe in The Colony.

The stabbing happened around 8 p.m. when two customers were talking inside the Cafe Gecko at Austin Ranch on Windhaven Parkway. In a statement released Tuesday, authorities said initial investigations revealed that the suspect, Joshua T. Logan, and the victim, 57-year-old Terry Baird, were talking in a friendly manner before Logan suddenly walked up behind Baird and slashed his throat with a folding knife.

Logan fled the scene, but was chased down by Cafe Gecko customers, who held him down until police arrived and placed him under arrest. Baird died at the scene.

Logan was charged with murder and is being held at The Colony Jail.
