FORT WORTH - Firefighters with the Fort Worth Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to extricate a victim trapped inside his vehicle in a multi-vehicle crash involving a senior handicapped bus at Wichita Street and Mitchell Boulevard.
Authorities said three people were monorly injured on the bus, which overturned in the crash. A teenage male driver was trapped in a silver BMW that was severely damaged in the wreck.
Witnesses told police the van was parked at a light on Mitchell Avenue when the driver of the BMW slammed into the back of the van at a high rate of speed.
Fire crews used the Jaws of Life to remove the top of the BMW and transported the man to a nearby hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The bus was from Park View Care Center, a nursing home located off View Street. There were three people on the bus at the time of the accident, including the driver and two passengers. One elderly man aboard was transported to John Peter Smith Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Two employees also aboard the bus were treated at the scene.
