IRVING - Irving police have asked for public help to solve a hit-and-run incident.

The victim, who was on a bike, has been hospitalized for two weeks with brain damage.

Kenneth Hawkins, 50, was riding westbound on Irving Boulevard, east of Belt Line Road. Police say Hawkins was hit by a light blue or gray Ford F-150 extended cab pickup truck. It had orange lettering over the rear, driver's-side wheel well.

Hawkins' brother, Jerry Hawkins, is taking care of the victim's seven-year-old son.

"I would really like the person responsible to come forward," Jerry Hawkins said. "If not, since it was at noon, on a relatively busy street, maybe somebody else saw what happened and can call with additional details."

This is not the first tragedy in the Hawkins family. In 2005, the victim's wife and unborn child were killed in a car wreck.
