SAN ANTONIO — A guest at the Grand Hyatt in downtown San Antonio shot a man dead inside the four-star hotel Saturday afternoon.

San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said a man in his 40s told investigators he felt threatened when a younger man reportedly tried forcing his way into the room.

An altercation unfolded in the hallway and the hotel guest ended up shooting the suspect in his chest, killing him.

McManus said investigators were still unsure as to what led to the shooting.

Officers did not say if the man who opened fire would face any charges. His name was not released.

The shooting happened in the 600 block of East Market St. around 1 p.m.

The Grand Hyatt is a 34-story luxury hotel that was built in 2008.
