FORT WORTH — A high-speed police chase ended with a crash in southeast Fort Worth late Tuesday afternoon.

The brief pursuit began at Interstate 20 and Cooper Street near the Parks at Arlington shopping center, where the suspect's pickup truck  was involved in an accident with another vehicle.

As police were investigating that incident, the pickup driver took off — running over the foot of an Arlington officer in the process.

Police followed as the driver headed west on Interstate 20, then turned north on Loop 820.

It ended when the truck climbed an embankment to service road, slammed into a utility pole and flipped on its side at Sun Valley Drive in Fort Worth.

The driver attempted to flee on foot, but was captured and taken to John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth for treatment. The name of the driver was not released.

Arlington police said open alcohol containers were found in the suspect's vehicle.

On Monday, a suspect was captured after another high-speed chase that began on the west side of Fort Worth and ended 45 minutes later near Granbury.
