DALLAS -- Dallas police are looking for a suspect who shot a man and woman outside a North Dallas motel.

Elena Shea, 25, and Christopher Whitley, 39, were arguing with a man at the Royal Inn in North Dallas when the man shot them and fled the scene.

Shea died en route to Parkland Memorial Hospital. Whitley is currently there in critical condition.

Most people at the Royal Inn were fast asleep when he opened fire. Police said Shea and Whitley were shot on a second floor balcony.

One woman said she was awake and watching TV when she clearly heard two gunshots around 2:45 Wednesday morning. She asked News 8 to conceal her identity out of concerns for her safety.

"I'm pretty sure it was probably drug related because I see a lot of things," she said. "It's got to be someone selling or buying drugs and that's sad, you know."

Police interviewed several witnesses, but did not have a motive for the shooting or a detailed suspect description.

The suspect is still on the loose.
