GRAPEVINE - A Grapevine man was arrested for impersonating a Southlake police officer.

Authorities said Brandon Cody Verran, 24, went into three businesses Friday asking to see surveillance video claiming a child had been struck by a car in the parking lot.

Not only do police say Verran is not an officer, but they also said no child was ever struck in the lot.

Verran first stopped at SMS Sports Cards with the story and was asked by the clerk to see his identification, police said. Saying his identification was in the car, he left the store and then went to the Northwest Plaza Animal Hospital with the same request. Police said he then left that business and went to a neighboring nail salon where he once again told the same story. Before leaving the store, Verran allegedly asked for a pedicure.

Officers had been called to the scene and arrested him in the parking.

Verran was released on a $2,000 bond and has a history of arrests.
