FORT WORTH — Family and friends gathered Saturday to say goodbye to Kimberly Carter, who was shot and killed at her Arlington apartment late last month by a man she had been dating.
Arlington police Officer Jillian Smith was also killed after responding to a domestic violence call at Carter's home. Carter's daughter, 11-year-old Ciani Jennings, escaped unharmed.
Carter's services were conducted at the Golden Gate Funeral Home in Fort Worth.
Arlington police and Arlington Police Association are coordinating a fund to benefit Carter's child.
