WYLIE — A North Texas road rage incident nearly had deadly consequences on Wednesday afternoon.

Wylie police say it started around one o'clock in the 2800 block of FM 544. A white Dodge Charger and a blue Nissan then sped north on McCreary Road.

They collided at the intersection of Riverway Lane in front of Groves Elementary School.

Tony Mand was waiting to make a turn at the corner when he saw the cars coming right toward him.

"I saw the white car flying," Mand said. "It came and hit the tree. I was shocked. The driver actually fell out of the car."

Mand said the Nissan then careened into his van.

"He was coming so fast," Mand said. "He spun and he hit me. It was a big impact"

Four people were taken by ambulance to area hospitals. The driver of the Dodge — who was thrown from the vehicle — is in critical condition.

Wylie police are still investigating the three-car collision. They expect to file criminal charges.

Tony Mand said it's the worst thing he's ever seen in his life.
