FORT WORTH - For the second time in four months, Fort Worth police are dealing with an off-duty officer involved in an accident.
It doesn't look that bad from the outside of the boarded up house on Brownfield Road in Fort Worth. However, when one takes a look on the inside, it looks like a tornado came through, said Maria Garcia, who lives in the home.
"What I thought was thunder was actually a car coming into my window," she said.
Her bedroom is now covered in rubble, including the bed she and her husband were lying on when the pickup truck crashed through the wall shortly after midnight Friday.
"The truck was on the bed," Garcia said.
Fort Worth police say the black pickup was driven by Officer Michael Buchanan, an was off duty and heading to his home two blocks away.
Garcia said her two-year-old daughter used to sleep in a corner of the room, which was demolished in the crash.
Police charged Buchanan with intoxication assault, and placed him on restrictive duty. Garcia said he told her he just fell asleep.
"So, I told him, 'Are you drunk? Whats going on?'" she said. "He's like, 'No, I'm not drunk."
With just a back injury, Garcia said she feels lucky they all survived.
"The pain is starting to really, really come," she said.
In the previous crash involving a Fort Worth officer, Jesus Cisneros was accused of crashing into a woman's car and killing her in December.
Sonia Baker was out getting breakfast for her two children when Cisneros was driving in an unmarked patrol car with a blood alcohol level twice the legal limit, police said.
