FORT WORTH — A  Fort Worth mother pleaded guilty in the choking death of her 3-year-old daughter in exchange for a 35-year prison sentence, read a statement from the Tarrant County District Attorney's Office.

Police said 3-year-old Paris Howard was found dead on Sept. 6, 2012 in the Fort Worth apartment of 20-year-old Janice Rene Anthony, the child's mother. Investigators found bruising on the toddler's body and her death was later determined to be the result of strangulation.

Authorities said Anthony initially told police her daughter's injuries were sustained in a fall, but later admitted to "spanking and punching the child on a daily basis for not minding and using the bathroom on herself." Investigators said she eventually admitted to choking the child the night of Sept. 5, 2012.

Anthony made the deal with prosecutors Friday and pleaded guilty to murder.
