DALLAS — Former Dallas City Council member and activist Sandra Crenshaw has been arrested and accused of theft.
Police spokeswoman Melinda Gutierrez said she failed to return a rental car.
As Crenshaw, 59, was being arrested at the Dallas Public Library at 4:45 p.m. Friday, she required the assistance of paramedics after she was inside the patrol car.
She was taken by ambulance to a hospital for treatment.
Crenshaw was booked at the Dallas County Jail at 11:27 p.m. Friday on a charge of theft of more than $1,500 and less than $20,000. Bond was set at $500.
Crenshaw served one term on the Dallas City Council from 1993 to 1995.
