ELLIS COUNTY — A deputy from the Ellis County Sheriff's Office was shot by a pellet gun while responding to a call late Monday night, authorities said.

Just before midnight, the deputy was driving on Ovilla Road, north of Waxahachie. The unnamed deputy had his window down when the pellet hit him above the eye.

The victim was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and released.

Two 15-year-old boys were taken into custody for shooting pellets at passing cars. including the deputy's. Two other vehicles had their windows shot out, authorities said.
