LONGVIEW (AP) — A 22-year-old East Texas man has been arrested in the death of a man found slain outside a car near a wooded area earlier this week.
Longview police said Alejandro Garcia of Winona was arrested Friday on a charge of murder in the death of 19-year-old Andres Chavez. Garcia remained in Gregg County Jail on Saturday on $500,000 bond. Jail records did not list an attorney for him.
Chavez's body was found Monday outside a car near a wooded area of Longview by a mobile home park.
An autopsy showed that Chavez died of blunt force trauma to the head and sharp force injuries to the neck. The autopsy also indicated skull fractures, lacerations and abrasions to the head and neck. The cause of death was listed as homicide.
