WALKER COUNTY, Texas – A 10-year-old boy shot his teenage sister and then turned the gun on himself late Thursday, deputies in Walker County said.

Life Flight was called to a ranch house about 9:30 p.m. in the 200-block of Duke Lane near Huntsville.

According to the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, the boy shot his 15-year-old sister on the second floor of their home. The siblings’ mother was downstairs, and someone in the home called 911 after the shooting.

Deputies said it appeared the boy shot himself in the head.

Both were sent to the hospital in critical condition, but the boy later died. As of Friday morning, the girl was listed in stable condition.
