DALLAS — Dallas police have located a nine-year-old girl who was reportedly kidnapped in West Oak Cliff late Tuesday afternoon in the wake of a domestic dispute.
The nine-year-old girl was dropped off at an aunt's house. Investigators spoke with the child and said she is okay.
The girl had last been seen in a 2002 maroon Chevrolet Blazer SUV that was taken from an apartment complex in the 3900 block of Altoona Drive.
The vehicle was found abandoned about 30 minutes later. An initial report indicating an infant was also in the SUV was not accurate.
Witnesses identified the man who took the girl as convicted arsonist Kendrick Butler, who was recently released from prison. He was said to have been involved in an argument with the child's mother shortly before the incident.
Butler took the vehicle and the girl when he learned that police were on the way.
Police sources told News 8 that Butler, 29, threatened the mother with a large-caliber handgun before taking the children. He is said to have a long criminal history.
No Amber Alert was issued.
