DALLAS — Police in Dallas have issued a community alert after a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a man who offered the child a ride Tuesday night.

According to the alert, the female victim was walking in the 2000 block of West Commerce Street at North Hampton Road when a Hispanic male described to be about 30 years old approached her and asked if she needed a ride.

The child accepted and got into the suspect's silver four-door truck, which she later told police had an "orange radio inside it, tinted windows and a rosary hanging from the rear-view mirror."

She told police the man drove her to a store in the 2700 block of Fort Worth Avenue and then to the 1700 block of Colorado Boulevard, where she was sexually assaulted by the man in a parking lot.

The child told police the man had a "goatee and spiked hair cut." She also told police his left eye twitched and he was wearing dark blue jeans and a white T-shirt.

Authorities have asked the public to call 214-671-4217 if they have any knowledge of the assault or the man's identity.
