DALLAS -- Dallas police are investigating a possible connection between several crimes involving knives and the stabbing death of Shearl Bennett on September 21.

Police won't release details into the investigation.

News 8 did speak with a man who was victimized by two suspects just one hour after Bennett was robbed and stabbed to death outside her condominium.

The victim, who wants to remain anonymous, told News 8 that he was getting out of his car when two men approached him. He said one suspect hit him with his fist and knocked him down and the other one had a knife.

The suspects demanded his bag, which the victim said may have saved his life as he used it as at a shield. In the end, the suspects were able to get away with his bag and fled the scene as neighbors approached.

Police are investigating the incident.

Two arrests were made in the stabbing death of Bennett on Monday.
