DALLAS — A Dallas police officer was injured early Saturday morning when his squad car was hit from behind by a pickup truck whose driver was later charged with driving while intoxicated.
The accident happened just before 2 a.m. near the intersection of Hampton Road and Davis Street in North Oak Cliff.
Both the officer and the driver of a Nissan Frontier pickup were taken to hospitals for treatment. Police spokeswoman Senior Cpl. Melinda Gutierrez said the unnamed officer was struck by the patrol car's airbag and is "doing well," but remained in the hospital for observation on Saturday afternoon.
Gutierrez said the operator of the pickup truck was charged with DWI; no name was released.
