RICHARDSON — Richardson police spokesman Sgt. Kevin Perlich explained the series of events surrounding the shooting incident at the Arapaho Center light rail station on Tuesday afternoon.

"One of the DART officers who was in the parking lot, he went out to speak with a DART officer to tell her he was having an issue with one of the passengers. The passenger observed the bus driver speaking with the DART officer; he exited the bus, started to leave from the bus location, and walk across the street to get onto the train platform. the officer followed after him, confronted him on the train platform. At that time, it appears the suspect pulled out a firearm, started to shoot at the DART officer. She was struck at least once, possibly twice."
