CORINTH — The Church of Corinth addressed its congregation for the first time Saturday since its spiritual leader was arrested for a sex crime involving a young girl.

Lead Pastor Jeffrey Dale Williams is accused of trying to entice the child to take her clothes off so he could see some "eye candy," according to the arrest affidavit.  Police said the incident was documented on two hours of audio tapes.

"With time and a lot of prayer, we will begin to go through a period where we can begin to heal," the Denton County church said in a statement. "We are in no way giving up, nor backing down on our call, purpose and mission for the Lord."

According to the arrest affidavit, Williams had locked the girl in a room by barricading a chair against it. He is now on leave from The Church of Corinth.
