DALLAS — Police said a child was injured in a drive-by shooting in Southeast Dallas on Saturday evening.

Witnesses said the gunfire came from a white sport utility vehicle driving in the 10300 block of Chelmsford Drive shortly before 8 p.m.

A seven-year-old child was struck in the leg, police spokeswoman Senior Cpl. Sherri Jeffrey said.

The wounded child was taken to Children's Medical Center for treatment of what was described as a non-life threatening wound.
