CARROLLTON — Six days after Carrollton police arrested him, Jason Geils' injuries remain evident.

"Yeah, this is a week ago," Geils said referring to his bruised left eye and a deep cut over it.

Carrollton police stopped him last Friday morning as he drove home from a Christmas party. Officers suspected Geils of driving while intoxicated, so they arrested him and got a search warrant to draw blood.

But Geils, 34, said the arrest turned violent at the police station.

"After I didn't take my coat off quick enough, I was taken by multiple officers," Geils recalled. "I was picked up by each arm and each leg and thrown to the ground face first."

Geils suffered a black eye, plus a deep cut above it that required four stitches. He also has bruises on each of his thighs and on his right elbow.

Geils said he was the victim of excessive force while in Carrollton's custody.

Carrollton police launched an internal investigation and immediately put one patrolman on desk duty.

But the department's spokesman said the agency could not discuss details of the probe since it is under way.

Among the evidence being examined is surveillance video from inside Carrollton's police facility which captured the incident.

"I think that if this can happen to me — which is a normal upstanding citizen who hasn't been in trouble with the law or anything — I think it can happen to anyone," Geils said.

Carrollton police carried him to the hospital.

Baylor Hospital stitched up his eye, but bruises remain — along with a shattered respect for law enforcement.

Carrollton police said it has not received results from Geils' blood test.

The 34-year-old salesman said his doctor diagnosed him with a mild concussion and won't let him return to work because he still has balance problems.

Geils said he is considering hiring an attorney.
