Body found
DALLAS — There was a deadly discovery in a Dallas field Saturday morning.
"Somebody did something evil," one neighbor said.
"It was pretty nasty," said another.
A burned body was found along a trail near railroad tracks in the 800 block of Wixom Lane in Southeast Dallas around 7:30 a.m.
A witness told News 8 that the victim's head and hands appeared to have been severed, but police would not confirm that account, saying only that the corpse had been burned and some bones were found scattered nearby.
"I wasn't sure what it was," said Rene Velazquez. "I kind of got closer, the only thing I can make out were the legs — the rest was gone."
"It looked like whoever did it tried to wrap the body in some kind of clear plastic," added neighbor Paul Hocutt. "I'm a man of God. I couldn't imagine somebody doing something like this."
Velazquez said the victim appeared to be a white female in her late teens or early 20s. Police investigators would not be specific about the age or sex of the body, but said it may have been there for days before it was discovered.
