An Arlington police officer shot and wounded a burglary suspect early Sunday morning.

Police said an off-duty officer, whose name was not released, heard an alarm going off at the Walnut Creek apartment complex in the 5900 block of Valleycreek Lane just before 6 a.m.

The officer told investigators the suspect refused to comply with commands after finding the suspect inside the business office.

"This led to a confrontation that resulted in the officer firing their weapon," police spokesman Sgt. Jeff Houston said in a written statement.

The suspect was taken to Medical Center of Arlington for treatment, and was expected to survive.

The officer was placed on routine administrative regime pending a review of what happened.
