PELICAN BAY — As painful as it is for friends and neighbors of Pleasant "Shorty" Robinson to admit, no one was that shocked when investigators found his body buried near a dog house in his own front yard on Monday.
"It's heartbreaking, but we all knew something had happened," said Donna Groschup, a close friend of Shorty's.
Neola Robinson was arrested this week and booked into the Tarrant County Jail, facing charges for her husband's murder.
It was May 2010 when Robinson simply vanished. He stopped showing up for work at a local machine shop.
Groschup said when police initially searched the area with dogs, they knew something had probably happened.
But it wasn't until recently, according to the Texas Rangers, that "new information came to light" which prompted an extensive search of the Robinson family property starting on Sunday.
Investigators aren't revealing how Robinson was killed — or why.
He did have a criminal history stretching back a few decades, including convictions for burglary and drinking and driving.
His sister told News 8 she had no comment.
Neola Robinson is being held on a $150,000 bond.
