An Arlington police officer on the way to investigate an accident was injured early Sunday morning when an alleged drunk driver struck the patrol car.

A police spokesman said the officer was traveling southbound in the 1400 block of South Cooper Street when the other vehicle pulled out in front of the officer's vehicle from a side street.

The officer and the driver of the other car, identified as 43-year-old Paulino Zamarripa, were taken by ambulance to Medical Center of Arlington for treatment.
