CEDAR HILL - An Amber Alert was issued at 1:07 p.m. Friday out of Cedar Hill for a 12-year-old girl.

Police said they believe Sommer Brown was taken by her mother, Lisa Elizabeth Brown, 43. They may be traveling in a gray 2006 Ford Expedition with temporary Texas tags and may be headed to Louisiana or Arkansas.

"The report that came to us was that the mother had coerced the child to get into the vehicle with her," said Corky Brown with the Cedar Hill Police Department.

Summer is a black female, 5'6" and 90 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. According to the Amber Alert, she was last seen wearing a black tank top and black basketball shorts.

Lisa Elizabeth is a black female, 5'8" and 120 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. She was last seen in Cedar Hill wearing a black blazer and light green shirt.

Police said they believe the child is in "grave or immediate danger."

"We'd like to get our hands on the child and put her back in a safe place," Brown said.

Until about three weeks ago, Sommer Brown lived with her mother.

Police say Lisa Brown has a history of abusive behavior.

Thursday she tried unsuccessfully to check the child out of school and she tried unsuccessfully to file an order of temporary custody. Then at 6:30 p.m. she came to the father's home where Sommer just started living. For several hours Thursday night, police were in contact with her through her attorney, but she's since stopped communicating.

Lisa Brown is a teacher in Atlanta, and was in Texas on her spring break. Three days ago, police say, she was arrested after filing a false report of sexual abuse against her ex-husband.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 972-230-5785.
