RED OAK — The Ellis County Sheriff's Office said an Amber Alert for a 16-year-old girl was canceled after authorities discovered the teen went with the male willingly.

According to Sheriff Johnny Brown, witnesses said Inez Ramirez got into the truck of her boyfriend, 23-year-old Edger Barton.

Brown said the teen packed a suitcase before leaving and it was suspected the pair were headed to Mexico.

The Amber Alert was first issued at about 8 a.m., when authorities said they believed Ramirez was in immediate danger. At about 10:15 a.m., Brown announced the cancellation of the alert.
