GARLAND - An Amber Alert came to a dramatic end Saturday morning in Garland.

Police said Rafael Hernandez-Guzman was in an SUV with his 6-year-old son when he rear-ended a car. That car was carrying the boy's mother and aunt.

The mother said Hernandez-Guzman threatened to kill himself and their little boy and then drove off.

Police issued an Amber Alert and found the father at a Garland motel. SWAT surrounded the room and Hernandez-Guzman surrendered.

The child is okay.

Hernandez-Guzman faces charges of child endangerment and aggravated assault with a motor vehicle.
