HOUSTON -- Three men, one of whom claimed to be a police officer, broke into a family’s Houston home early Tuesday and demanded cash and drugs.

According to the Houston Police Department, the home invasion occurred around 2:30 a.m. in the 6800 block of Ilex Street, not far from Griggs Road and the Gulf Freeway.

A man, his wife, and his sister-in-law heard a loud crash at the front door as three men forced their way in. They robbed the family of I.D. cards, credit cards, and other personal items.

According to the family, the men pistol whipped two of the adults in the home and threatened to take their baby daughter. They then stole the family’s Cadillac Escalade and fled the scene.

HPD officers used OnStar to track down the vehicle’s location, which they found abandoned along the Eastex Freeway. The suspects were not located, however.

No serious injuries were reported.

A family member at the scene told KHOU 11 News there were no drugs or money in the home, and it wasn’t clear why the family was targeted.
