GRAND PRAIRIE -- Grand Prairie police believe two men were shot Sunday at a fight involving about 50 people at the Fish Creek Linear Park.

Police received a call at 4:44 p.m. saying about 50 people were fighting in the park in the 4500 block of Coventry and cars were racing away from the area. A minute later, the caller said shots were fired.

Witnesses said uninvited guests showed up to a gathering they were having at the park, and the ensuing argument escalated into a fight.

Responding officers found several bullet casing in the street and park area, but couldn't locate a victim.

At 4:58 p.m., two gunshot victims showed up at two different local hospitals. Police believe the victims were shot at the park.

One of the men is in critical condition, and the other is in serious condition. Both underwent surgery at local hospitals.

The case is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the major crimes hotline at 972-237-8877.
